Dear friend,

When life is in the throes of winter and monotony has begun to take over, it’s time to get silly.

I normally love snow days. You get to be cozy and as close to winter hibernation as humanly possible. But after two days of not leaving the house due to a snowstorm and negative-degrees-fahrenheit temperatures, I was definitely feeling the lack of exercise, sunshine, and normality. You know things are off when you suddenly feel like life is hopeless, and the world is bleak, and everything is falling to pieces, and there’s no more creativity left so you might as well quit… *inhale* for no apparent reason.

Yeah. That’s about the time to air out the sheets with some silliness.

Shake things up.

Have a dance party with your clothes inside out.

Build a snowman with a butt.

Put googly eyes all over the house.

Or in my case, go to a conspiracy theory party.

Now, to be fair, the conspiracy theory party was planned a couple weeks ago, but still. The silliness was through the roof. We made tinfoil hats. We drank alien juice (fruit punch). And I got to watch people try to convince me of some conspiracy theories (a nice mix of silly and serious).

Life doesn’t feel so bleak and I’ve got some creative thoughts knocking around in my noggin.

Don’t take life so seriously. When it gets too serious, add some silly.

Sincerely,

R. J. Catlin
